Truck and van hire in Lagos

Moving goods in Lagos, on your terms

The usual way to find a truck in Lagos is to ask around. Someone's cousin knows a driver, the driver quotes one price on the phone and another when he arrives, and you spend the morning wondering if he is coming at all. Sphere puts the whole arrangement in one app.

You list what you are moving, pick the vehicle, set the pickup and drop-off, and propose a price. Drivers close to you see the request. Each one accepts your price or sends a counter-offer, and you choose who gets the job. It works anywhere in Lagos: Ikeja, Surulere, Lekki, Ikorodu, Badagry, the Island, the Mainland and the outskirts.

What you can move with Sphere in Lagos

Most jobs fall into four groups.

Home moves come first, from a single room or a self-contain to a full family house. Our house moving in Lagos page has a checklist for the week before.

Offices move desks, chairs, filing cabinets, printers and the server rack nobody wants to touch. See office relocation in Lagos.

Traders and shop owners use Sphere for market restocks, bulk orders to customers and stock going between shop and warehouse. That is covered on business deliveries in Lagos.

Then there are single bulky items: the new fridge from the shop, a generator going for repairs, a mattress, a washing machine or a few heavy boxes.

Choose the right vehicle

A pickup van handles bulky items and medium loads such as a fridge, a washing machine, a sofa set or a stack of cartons. The app lists it for loads up to 2,400kg. More on that on van hire in Lagos.

A truck is for full home moves, office moves and large stock transfers. See truck hire in Lagos.

For small things that fit in a car boot, there is also a compact car option.

Not sure which one you need? Write out your items in the request. Drivers will tell you if the load fits their vehicle before you agree anything.

Tips for a smoother move in Lagos

1. Start early or go late. Rush hour on Third Mainland Bridge, the Lekki-Epe Expressway or Ikorodu Road can eat half your day, and early mornings or later evenings are usually much easier.
2. Talk to the gateman before moving day. Many estates want a gate pass, or at least a call to the security desk, before a truck is allowed in.
3. Put the awkward details in your request: the floor number, the stairs, the narrow street, the glass table. Drivers price better when nothing surprises them.
4. In the rainy season, keep nylon or tarpaulin ready for mattresses, electronics and anything upholstered.

Why Lagos customers use Sphere

• You set the starting price. There is no rate card, and drivers either accept your figure or counter it.
• Drivers submit their licence, ID and vehicle details for approval before they can take jobs.
• Trucks and pickup vans sit in the same app, so you book the size the load needs and stop paying for empty space.
• The app is free on Android and iPhone.
